Farmer's Wife quilt progress

I started on my Farmer's Wife quilt on Sunday. I had to work up the nerve to cut into my beautiful (and expensive) fabric!

I am using the instruction sheets by Marti Michell that are written for use with her templates. Using the templates has really helped my accuracy. The points aren't perfect, but they aren't bad.

I had never done foundation paper piecing, so I decided to try it with block #1 (upper right). It came out nice, but I didn't think it was that much easier than regular piecing, and I didn't like picking the paper off the back. I might paper piece some of the more challenging blocks, but I'm going to use the templates for everything else.
